The White Sparrow
My story...
Hi! I'm Lauren, and I'm so glad you're here!
I’ve been immersed in the world of retail since I was a teenager, and despite its ups and downs, it’s something I’ve always loved. I spent six years working in mall retail before heading to New York City to take on a new role. My time in NYC was invaluable—the hustle and grind helped shape the person I am today! After four years in the city, I made the decision to move back to my hometown, where I now split my time between managing our family's business and my role at The Sparrow.
In both of my jobs, I’m able to dive into what I’m most passionate about: marketing and advertising, being creative, and making meaningful connections. Each day brings something new, and I’m always striving to keep learning and growing in these areas. Whether I’m running the family business or pushing forward The Sparrow’s vision, I’m grateful for the balance that allows me to work on what I love.
When not working, I spend time with my two dogs, Jax & Jellybean. We enjoy long, quiet walks in nature and chasing tennis balls!

What's in a name?
The name 'The White Sparrow' was inspired by a 1860's German proverb that states: He that would thrive must the white sparrow see, or one must see a white sparrow to thrive. I found this proverb back in college (10+ years ago) and it has stuck with me ever since.
The story reads like this: A farmer was struggling, in both life and business, but stubborn and unaccepting of advice from friends. All but one friend declared him hopeless, and this particular friend brought up the topic of a white sparrow. He explained its strange habits, and how this singular bird could only be seen in the early morning. The farmer was intrigued and decided to get up early, determined to see said white sparrow. Each morning he would get up, and instead of seeing the white sparrow, he began to see how his farm hands were cheating him. He forgot all about the white sparrow and began to rise early to look after his farm, and as he did this his fortune changed.
The white sparrow did not exist but the farmer's friend convinced him to rise early and see what was happening right in front of him, and he himself was able to change his fortune.
